Whom does the Restaurant & Bar Support Fund help?

  • Businesses that qualify for the grant are food and beverage establishments that employ 3-20 full-time staff. Businesses must be based in Ontario and operating for at least one year or since January 2019.

Do funds need to be repaid?

  • No, the grants dispersed to businesses do not need to be repaid. If businesses who receive the Restaurant & Bar Support Fund assistance do, at a later date, wish to “pay it forward” to another Ontario food and beverage establishment in need of assistance, they may do so by directing those dollars back to the Fund, which will disburse the funding to another Ontario business in need.

What is the application process?

The application process is designed to be quick and easy. The application can be submitted online through our website.

  • Fill out an application form (on-line)

  • Submit a brief video (up to three minutes) about the business and its employees and how the funds will be used. (VIDEO: In your video please clearly state your name and establishment name. If missing the application will not be reviewed for the grant. Video must be labeled: First Name of Applicant_Last Name of Applicant_Establishment Name)

  • The approval process takes 10 business days.

  • Once approved businesses can expect an immediate transfer of funds.

Is the Restaurant and Bar Support Fund a government program?

No, the Restaurant & Bar Support Fund has been set up by members of the private sector committed to supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs in Ontario.

Who will oversee the approval process?

The Restaurant & Bar Support Fund approval process is powered by volunteers, including finance executives and entrepreneurs, all of whom are focused on helping to save Ontario businesses.

Will there be a tax receipt issued?

No, while Restaurant & Bar Support Fund is a registered not-for-profit, it is not a charity. Businesses can expense their contribution (i.e. promotional expense).
